Position Description for Maquoketa Community School District, Maquoketa, Iowa

The Maquoketa Community School District, Maquoketa, Iowa, Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified and fully certified Superintendent.  The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2022.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Enrollment: 1,333

Location: 30 miles south of Dubuque

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in Educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a Superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make.

• A strong team leader who is visionary and collaborative and will advance the district.
• A collaborative leader who will work with the district team to enhance the student’s social-emotional and academic growth.
• Someone who is technology savvy and is able to utilize technology to enhance education.
• Someone who is an excellent communicator and has the desire to be visible in the community.
• A leader with experience in school finance, school budgeting, district operations, facility planning, and strategic planning.

• Closing date for applications: February 10, 2022 (11:30 p.m. central time)
• Board of Education selects finalists to interview: February 28, 2022
• Semi-finalist interviews with the Board of Education: March 5, 2022
• Finalist interviews with the Board of Education: March 7-9, 2022
• Selection of new Superintendent: March 9, 2022
• Start date: July 1, 2022
