Position Description for Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, Soldotna, Alaska
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, Soldotna, Alaska Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified and fully certified Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position on or before July 1, 2021.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the School Board in identifying and screening the candidates.

Location: South of Anchorage
The Qualifications
The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board developed the following desired characteristics.
- An experienced leader with a strong sense of compassion, open mindedness, embraces cultural diversity, who will not only maximize the skills and abilities of fellow staff members, but possesses the “soft skills” to lead staff in continual improvement and meaningful change
- An individual who will not only work closely with the KPBSD Board, but will build trust relationships among and between staff and community and make the remote areas of the District feel heard and included
- A fiscally sound instructional leader who has a strong background in curriculum and instruction and knows “personalized learning” and is skilled in “social emotional learning”
- An optimistic, inclusive, collaborative leader who is goal oriented but trusts staff to work together to accomplish the District’s goals using different methodologies and pathways.
- The District is seeking a spirited and adventurous individual who will fully enjoy and embrace the majestic beauty, cultural, and recreational opportunities which the Kenai Peninsula has to offer.
- A leader with superior communication skills and a positive vocal advocate for the District, students and staff locally as well as at the State and National level
